Abstract deadline for Ottawa Pub Night Student Spotlight @ Clock Tower Brew Pub

Ottawa Pub Night

Student Spotlight
Up to 5 presentations, each 10 mins in length + time for questions
Presentations will be evaluated by volunteer judges
Winner will receive a voucher toward a meal at the Clock Tower at a future pub night and will receive notoriety on the L-SETAC website and social media!

When: Wednesday March 27, 2019,  from 5:00 to 7:30 pm (note the extended time)
Where: Clock Tower Brew Pub, 575 Bank Street

Current and recent graduate students are invited to submit an abstract.   Application deadline : Monday, February 4th, 2019.    Please see Abstract Submission Guidelines for details.

Join us for an engaging talk, good eats and fine brew at the next Ottawa Pub Night.  We will host a Student Spotlight at which five current graduate students will compete for the best presentation on
their research topic.  Socializing, food and drink orders begin at 5:00 pm, the talks  begins at 6:00 pm.

The five presenters are:
1. Amber Dyck – Effects of ditch management in agroecosystems: from water quality to tadpole health
2. Julie Cox – The development and preliminary validation of an in vitro mutagenicity assay based on MutaMouse primary hepatocytes
3. Cynthia Cheney – Paleoecotoxicology: the application of novel tools to assess the toxicity of historically contaminated lake sediments
4. Tasnia Sharin – 3D-Cultured avian cells for chemical screening: metabolic and gene expression profiles of the LMH cell line
5. Sue Zhang – Naphthenic acids disrupt courtship behaviours in the western clawed frog (Silurana (Xenopus) tropicalis)

Formerly known as the Aquatic Toxicity Workshop (ATW), CEW is Canada’s predominant annual meeting in the field of ecological toxicology and related disciplines.  It provides the opportunity to share information on current and emerging topics of regional, national and international importance related to contaminants in ecosystems, both aquatic and terrestrial. Participants include students, academics, government scientists and regulators, environmental consultants and industry representatives.
