CTC Source Protection Committee Recruitment: Chemical Sector Representative

The Credit Valley Source Protection Authority is inviting applications for a Chemical Sector Representative on its Source Protection Committee.


Who are we?

The Credit Valley – Toronto and Region – Central Lake Ontario (CTC) Source Protection Committee (SPC) comprises 21 people from across the CTC Source Protection Region. The Committee has worked since 2007 to guide technical and policy decisions for local Terms of References, Assessment Reports, and a Source Protection Plan to protect municipal sources of drinking water. The CTC Source Protection Plan has been in effect since Dec. 31, 2015. The Source Protection Committee reviews and directs the implementation of the CTC Source Protection Plan and oversees technical and policy amendments to assessment reports and the plan. We are looking for someone with:

  • Background in chemical sector.

  • Knowledge in emerging contaminants, particularly PFAS.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience working on multi-sector committees.

  • Experience with group decision-making processes.

  • Understanding of:

    • The CTC Source Protection Region, including watersheds, communities, and

      local drinking water concerns and opportunities.

    • Drinking water source protection concepts and technical reviews.

 

About Committee Membership

  • There is a commitment to participate in three to six half-day meetings per year for a term of five years.

  • Representatives must reside, own or rent property, be employed, or operate a business within the CTC Source Protection Region.

  • Members receive a per diem and travel expenses for in-person meetings.

  • Meetings are currently being held in a hybrid format, allowing attendance in-person or virtually via Teams. Future meetings may be held in-person, virtually or in a hybrid format. In-person meetings are typically held at the Credit Valley Conservation head office; but may also occur at other suitable meeting spaces within the CTC Source Protection Region.
